Summertime 2013……yahoo!

I will admit to looking forward to the summer vacation…though feel a tad melancholy to see my young friends leave for 3 months. Now is a time to plan for summer work in preparation for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. It is also a time to reflect on the new knowledge gained, the many friendships forged, new experiences and new skills developed in the past year.

Thank you to students and parents and fellow staff who made this a great year. I have enjoyed celebrating the successes of my young friends and witnessing their intellectual development . To be part of their developing reading habits has been very sweet ! How sweet? How about maple-syrup-from-Vermont sweet?

Thank you to my many young friends at school. I received many lovely, thoughtful, unique gifts this week. Each one is a fabulous little treasure. One gift in particular contains yummy Vermont goodness! I am ever so grateful for your kindness. See you on Opening Day, Monday, August 19th.

(P.S. Thank you Granny and Grand Dad Eaton. A proper — non sticky — thank you note is heading to Vermont shortly.)

While I am a librarian , I am a reading cheerleader. The purpose of this library blog is to better promote reading and information literacy to community. I love books, reading to my son, properly placed apostrophes, canoeing, locating the nearest Starbucks, cheering the Montreal Canadians, and Cherry Garcia ice cream.
