20121004-115126.jpgOur school was fortunate to receive from Dorling Kindersley, a publisher of children’s books, among which are a number of Lucas Films titles on their publishing list, a special box. Way back in July, I entered my name into a drawing and was fortunate to receive one of 200 promotional boxes offered to schools, libraries and book shoppes across America. Yeah! Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School was chosen as one of 200 official sites to host the 1st ever Star Wars Reads Day event. Other institutions are able to opt in and hold related events, though we are an ‘official’ site. Yeah!

20121004-115151.jpgPosters went up in early September… Kindergarten to grade 3 friends were excited to be invited to the Campus Center Library after school to build fantastical lego star ships, create a Yoda puppet, fold an origami Yoda and have a snack. 60 children attended and had fun. Thank you parents for donating Jedi Juice, Hoth Water, Wookie cookies and Death Star rice crispy balls. All were delish. Upon leav20121004-113334.jpging , each child received a goodie bag with a Lego magazine, a Star Wars book, assorted bookmarks, Chebacca tattoos, pins and origami Yoda paper. Major fun in the library! Thanks to all who helped set up, donate and supervise.

A fun time was had by all……

While I am a librarian , I am a reading cheerleader. The purpose of this library blog is to better promote reading and information literacy to community. I love books, reading to my son, properly placed apostrophes, canoeing, locating the nearest Starbucks, cheering the Montreal Canadians, and Cherry Garcia ice cream.
