Stop your neighbors from stealing your WiFi

Is your Internet connection slowing down at certain times?  This could be blamed on someone ( pesky neighbor who never returned your lawn rake?) using  your connection with out you knowing.

A new device, in the form of semi fashionable wallpaper can block unwanted WiFi piggy packing.

Researchers at the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble (INP) have been working on the new paper that successfully blocks out certain electromagnetic wave frequencies, which means your Wi-Fi will be secure, but your mobile signal won’t be affected at all.

The wallpaper isn’t available quite yet, but check out Ahlstrom.com for more information about how the clever tech works.  Or learn to employ encryption /user passwords on your WiFi service.  And demand your lawn rake back.

While I am a librarian , I am a reading cheerleader. The purpose of this library blog is to better promote reading and information literacy to community. I love books, reading to my son, properly placed apostrophes, canoeing, locating the nearest Starbucks, cheering the Montreal Canadians, and Cherry Garcia ice cream.
